The first step of the Conceptual Design phase begins with a comprehensive understanding of my clients’ wish list’, likes and dislikes, and an understanding of the desired lifestyle to be realized. Together with an understanding of the architect’s vision and schematics, the interior design theme is crafted. This includes a ‘look book’, review of the floor plan and furniture layouts as well as preliminary 3D renderings illustrating how the concepts proposed will apply to the home.
The conceptual design process sets the stage, giving my clients a visually inspired document while laying the foundation for all specifications and working details that follow.
Once the conceptual design is approved and the client is comfortable with the overall direction, we embark on one of the most exciting stages of the project: generating the full-scale computer model that allows photo realistic views of the completed interiors as well as the ability to move through the home with full 360-degree views using an Oculus.
Accurate and detailed specifications are key to managing budgets and ensuring successful execution of the vision. From intricate flooring layouts to custom coffered ceilings, marquetry inlaid cabinets to hand forged hardware, the design specification is the language of the interior. This language is always guided by two essential characteristics: beauty and function. Clients are presented with a complete collection of drawings and specifications for all floor, wall and ceiling treatments, built-in cabinetry and surfaces, plumbing and appliance fixtures, lighting, furnishings, textiles, rugs and accessories for consideration. My process and documentation is uniquely transparent, affording my clients a thorough understanding of all designs, specifications, costs and scheduling.
Throughout construction I work closely with the architect, contractor, and vendors to ensure the design intent is correctly executed assuring that my clients’ expectations are exceeded.
Highly anticipated by both my clients and I, installation is the final stage. Once construction is complete, my coordinated team of manufacturers, suppliers and installers - under my personal direction - make the final grand gesture of installing all elements at once, giving my clients the ultimate unveiling. Rugs are laid, draperies and wall upholstery installed, furnishings are placed, bedding is steamed and pressed, bathrooms are dressed, art and mirrors hung, and fresh flowers, personal photographs, and accessories are all set. No corner is left untouched or detail overlooked.
Building a custom home is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves. In creating bespoke sanctuaries that nurture our sense of wellbeing, we find true expression and an inspired lifestyle centered on being home.
